Guardon Anti-Virus and Spyware, Trojan Guard Gold & EAV Antivirus Suite Free Edition are not safe, fake clones and a con. In my opinions these anti-malware products are bogus cons, and are not to be trusted.
My background... I’m currently doing a controlled test of all the anti-malware programs I can find, with the hope to see which one I think performs best. During this test I came across some questionable anti-malware programs, but these ones I thought you should know about.
On the initial start up of EAV Antivirus I Instantly got a popup saying that I had a virus in c:\windows\system32\satsrv.exe, I knew this was probably not true so I decide to do nothing about it for now, I found this file in my system32 folder and did a right-click scan with EAV, guess what NO VIRUS FOUND, Fake just as I expected.
The program was supposed to be FREE but attempted to get me to purchase the software before I could receive any update, so I cancelled the update and started the scan, now it takes me to the update page for free, but has to download a completely different version 5.96 even thou I only downloaded 5.x today from there site? Considering the original installer was only 1.7Mb, the update I had to download was over 21Mb and taken 13 minutes to download on a 20Mb connection?
Tried to do a complete full scan several times but software crashed every time before the end of scanning. I had my suspicions about this program at this time but decide to uninstall it and continue with testing other anti-malware programs
Then I get to test Guardon Anti-Virus, installed it and started up the program. Here we go again same popup window this time telling me I got a virus in c:\program files\comodo\comodo internet security\cfp.exe. Now I know comodo firewall is a very well known trusted program, and this was not going to contain a virus.
Trojan Guard Gold was the same story.
I don’t think I need to explain anymore, just take a look at the screenshots bellow, they are virtually an exact clone of each other.
EAV Antivirus 5.96
Now. Guardon Anti-Virus
Also Trojan Gurad Gold
Make up your own mind but I don’t think these are trustworthy, I think they are fake rip-off scams.
